Trips away are an essential part of Tweeddale Youth Action and giving our members opportunities to experience new things travel to new places and meet new people has a profoundly positive impact on raising aspirations and building confidence.
It’s easy to forget that not all young people have parents or guardians with access to a car and many opportunities that some take for granted are not accessible for young people from less well of backgrounds in rural communities like ours.
We programme a wide variety of experiences that educate and inspire young people and trips away over the past couple of years have included:
Climate Change conference and residential in London
Activity residential in Mull
Trips to Alton Towers, Blackpool Pleasure Beach and M&D’s theme parks
Enchanted Forest in Pitlochry
Ryse trampolining Centre, ten pin bowling and EICA climbing arena
Edinburgh Museum and art galleries
Youth Beatz festival in Dumfries
Beach trips to Burnt Island, Pease Bay, Coldingham and Portobello
Feeling challenged to expand horizons, enjoying a shared, collective experience and the feeling of being part of something and belonging means the world to our young people.
